This is Mustafa’s story.
It’s hard to believe two 18 year-olds and their young children made the trek from Kurdistan to Europe after their hometown was bombed. The majority of their family was killed in Syria when the violence erupted. They had no choice but to flee their homeland, despite having never left their town before.
WE CAME AROUND THE FAMILY.
If you ever saw Mustafa’s smile, you would love him, his wife, and children as much as we do. As our team visited their camp each week, we heard about the terrible situation of his mother, sister, and uncle trapped in Turkey. We prayed and discerned how to assist Mustafa and, with time, his extended family.
Once his sister made it to Greece, we were able to facilitate longer-term housing, and we helped raise funds for her back operation. Before the operation, she could barely walk and was in constant pain. A Hope Tribe in the States started praying for them, and raised funds to help with new clothes for the children, doctor bills, and furniture for their home when they were finally able to move out of the camp.
HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENED IN THEIR LIVES.
Today, Mustafa and his wife are still learning German and English. When we first met them in Europe, they couldn’t read or write. Their children, on the other hand, now speak four languages, are excelling in school, and now they have their own home. Mustafa’s mother, sister, and uncle were able to eventually join them in Germany with our assistance. Mustafa’s smile is as big as ever, and each night they sleep in warm beds without the sound of fighter jets overhead or the sound of bombs falling on their new homeland.
