THIS IS OMAR’S STORY

Omar just wanted to work hard and provide for his young family in Syria. But he was robbed of the opportunity to build a stable and happy life for his children as civil war broke out in 2011. Omar’s part of the country was known to protest against the government, and the military cracked down on their region. After four years of perpetual violence, Omar and his family were barely surviving, and their future looked dark. When the government army came demanding Omar fight for them, he fled, leaving his wife and children behind. 

WE CAME AROUND OMAR.

He made the dangerous journey to Europe. While traveling, he met a community from a church who offered assistance and sparked hope. Eventually, Omar arrived in Germany and was connected to our Hope Tribe team. Immediately we met with him and listened to his story.

We discerned and developed a plan to help Omar rebuild his future. As people back in the US heard his story, a community was mobilized to pray, give, encourage and come alongside of him. This Hope Tribe helped with his medical and dental needs, as well as the legal process for his family to join him in Germany to seek asylum together.  

HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENED IN HIS LIFE.

Today, Omar is working full-time in the medical field. His sons are becoming fluent in three languages. They are integrating into the culture of their new home. Omar continues to grow in his faith and is leading his family. The community that first came around him continues to encourage him daily.

In the evenings he sits on his couch, plays with his kids, laughs, hugs his wife, and when he hears a knock on the door, he no longer lives in fear that the army will trap him and pull him away to fight in a violent war. Their future now is bright and full of hope.
